Concerning the subject competition for the remainder of the academic year, ending May 15th, 2020. As some background, around mid-March regular season competition in Fortnite, CSGO, and Rocket League was suspended to give time for institutions to adjust and prepare for the COVID-19 crisis that is impacting our members in the U.S. and Canada. This also allowed us to gather information as it related to the status of our members teams. One startling figure we saw was that a third of membership would not be able to continue competition in any form due to policy issues and equipment issues – even when considering students being allowed to play from home. Considering this the Competition Council, in consultation with the Board of Directors, voted to not resume regular season competition.
At the same time the Competition Council voted to start new remote and online competition in CSGO, Fortnite, Overwatch and Rocket League with competition starting the week of the 20th and concluding in the week of May 11th. The national office, competition council, and many subcommittees worked over a very short amount of time to meet these expectations.
Group Stage All matches will be played on Monday’s and Wednesday’s at 8:00 PM Eastern Time.
